“It does not matter what your body looks like, what shape or size it is. It does not matter how you’re built. If you have legs to propel you, lungs to help you breathe, a mind to tell your body to keep pushing and a heart that loves running, then you HAVE a runner’s body.” ~ Lindsay Dziedziula

Before I had kids, I was a certified personal trainer. I’ll never forget the day when I was talking to a client about my goal to run a marathon some day when he just looked at me and said, “Well, you don’t really have a runner’s body.” I was taken aback for a second. In the stereotypical sense, no, I don’t have a runner’s body. I’m not some will o’ the wisp able to crank out 7 minute miles. But my legs are strong, and they can carry me great distances. I have a runner’s heart which has a burning passion for the sport. I have a strong will that pushes me to achieve the goals I set for myself. I have a positive attitude, which is vital in reaching ANY goal. This not-a-real-runner’s-body has run 5ks, 10ks, half and full marathons, it’s placed in age group and overall at races. Don’t ever let someone else’s opinion of what your body can or can’t do influence the goals you set for yourself. EVER. Get out there and show them what you CAN do. Get out there and be amazing!JaDee
